If you have really good friends, you can sometimes start to think you’re putting together the wedding you want.

Yesterday was my non-shower.  I highly recommend a non-shower if:

• the idea of shower games makes you want to blow your own head off
• you are severely lacking in female friends
• avoiding the accumulation of stuff is a priority
• you aren’t so materially driven that you need shower AND wedding gifts from your already cash-strapped friends
• you prefer good company to bullshit

My bestest friend took my mum and I out for manicures, and then we met up with everyone who is making the journey east for the wedding at a restaurant — a restaurant, might I add, that only serves cake — for a chat and a laugh.  My lovely mum bought a round of cake for everyone and we had a very chilled out, easy-going time of it.

Some drama, but not enough to ruin a freaking perfect day.

Weddings can be what you want them to be.  If your wedding isn’t, get better friends.
